A fleeting moment in a dark alley in Isfahan, the third largest city of Iran. With a long and rich history, Isfahan is home to an abundance of historical buildings, monuments, paintings, and artifacts. Also, the city has the reputation of being the most religiously conservative of the larger metropolitan centers of the country.

Still, the silhouette passing through the image hints at modern and confident woman, surrounded by masonry and stories of a bygone area. An opposite without contradiction, living a modern life in an ancient space.

An emblem of contemporary Persia, this is one of my favorite images from my visits of the country.
